The defending champion Boston Celtics are one win away from being eliminated from the playoffs. They fell 121-113 on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Celtics forward Jayson Tatum scored 20 first-half points and 43 points for the game. But with just under 3:00 minutes to go in the game Tatum crumpled down to the ground with an injury to a lower right leg.
Knicks forward OG Anunoby stole the ball and slammed the ball down at the other end. Boston’s second-leading scorer on the season Jaylen Brown finished with 20 points. After the game Brown’s thoughts were on his co-star who went down with what looked to be a devastating injury. “Obviously JT, everybody is concerned with him but tonight defensively our defense let us down, just no resistance,” Brown said after the game.
The Celtics blew an 11-point halftime lead as well as a 14-point advantage in the third quarter. “Tonight is tough. I think everybody is kind of in a loss for words. Just because like, for one losing the game but obviously the concern of losing JT, but we pick our heads up tomorrow and go from there.”
Celtics now trail in the series 3-1 and host game 5 Wednesday night at the TD Bank Arena. If Boston is able to come away with win, game 6 will take place at Madison Square Garden Friday night.
