The New York Giants faced unexpected challenges in their “legacy match ” against the Chicago Bears last Sunday at MetLife Stadium but came out victorious with a 20-12 win.

Starting Quarterback Daniel Jones left the game with an ankle injury and backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor stepped in, but soon left with a concussion following a powerful hit. The right plays along with good defense and good offense brought the Giants record to 3-1.

“I thought our guys played physical,” said first year head Coach Brian Daboll. “(We) made a few more plays than they did. There were a lot of bumps and bruises.”

Jones went on the praise the offensive line. “I think the offensive line did a great job early on in the game,” he said. “We hit a couple of big runs with (running back) Saquon (Barkley) and things were opened up.” For another week, Barkley showed why he is one of the elite running backs in the NFL. Barkley carried the ball 31 times racking up 146 yards.

The Giants were on the scoreboard in the first quarter after 21-yd touchdown run by Daniel Jones. Jones then ran for another touchdown in the second quarter. Jones passing yardage was light as he finished completing only 8 passes for 71 yards. On the ground, Jones ran 68 yards on 6 carries.

Giants defense held the Bears at bay only allowing for three field goals in the first half of the game.

The Bears broke though Giant’s defense to get in field goal range adding three more points to their score in the third quarter. Gano also connected on a field goal in the third quarter and one more in the fourth quarter.

Taylor entered the game at the end of the third quarter and was injured in the fourth quarter. Running Back Saquon Barkley stepped in temporarily at quarterback. He made an impact in yards during the game.

Daboll could not provide an update on the status of Taylor. “Obviously it was a big collision there on our sideline,” Jones said. “I didn’t get to see him before he went in, but I saw him after the game. It was a scary play and you don’t want to see that for a teammate or anybody playing.”

The Giants next head across the pond to London to take on the Green Bay Packers who had to go to overtime before taking out the New England Patriots 27-24. The Patriots were without quarterback Mac Jones who sustained a high ankle sprain the week before against the Baltimore Ravens.
