The American League defeated the National League 5-3 in the 2024 All-Star Game. The A.L. has now won 10 of the past 11 meetings, after previously losing 3 in a row. Since 1987, the A.L. has dominated, winning 28 out of 36 games.
The N.L. struck first, with a 3-run home run from Shohei Ohtani in the 3rd inning. The Japanese sensation is now the only player in All-Star Game history with a homer and a win on the mound. He is also a massive favorite to capture the 3rd MVP of his career, and looking to lead the Dodgers to his first World Series title.
N.L. starter, Paul Skenes, was fantastic in the one inning he pitched, becoming just the 5th rookie in either league’s history to start an All-Star Game.
Right after Ohtani’s homer, the A.L. answered back with a 2-run double from Juan Soto and RBI single from pinch-hitting David Fry. The A.L. went on to tack 2 more runs on in the 5th, and the game was scoreless in the last 4 innings. Despite the loss, N.L. pitchers put the A.L. bats down in order after the 5th inning, allowing zero baserunners.
The regular season is now returning with the break coming to a close, as teams and fans alike are anxious to get back into it.
