The New York Knicks came back from the All-Star Break on Thursday night and pushed their win streak to three. For the second game in a row it also took them until overtime to seal the deal. They got the 113-111 over their old-time rival from the 90’s, the Chicago Bulls.

Knicks first year swingman Mikal Bridges saved the game for the Knicks in the final seconds of regulation as Chicago inbounded the ball to their center and two-time All-Star Nikola Vucevic who received the ball directly under the basket. Bridges who was behind him getting posted up and giving up several inches and pounds, leaped, met Vucevic at the basket and denied what looked to be a certain winning bucket for the Bulls.

Karl Anthony Towns who started the game making just two of his first 15 shots scored six of the nine Knicks points in overtime. He finished the game overall making 12 of his last 15 shots. “I just stayed confident,” said Towns of his ability to overcome his tough start. “Just never giving up on the game. Mentally for me I just stayed confident in my shot, tried to get a little more selective and tried to get something going.” Town’s finished the game with 32 points and 18 rebounds.

The Knicks have the third best record in the Eastern Conference and will faced Cleveland Friday night who has the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks beat them in the first round of the playoffs two years ago. Then the Knicks travel up to Boston for a 1:00 matinee against the defending champion Celtics on Sunday.
