The Knicks won their third straight game in a noon matinee against the Charlotte Hornets at Madison Square Garden last Sunday afternoon. They did what good teams are supposed to do and made quick work of a bad team. They won 129-107 and were led by their top four scorers. RJ Barrett had a game high 24 points including four made three-point shots. Julius Randle had 23 points, 20 points for Jalen Brunson and Immanuel Quickley finished with 17. All four shot 50 percent from the floor or better. Budding star point guard LaMelo Ball had a game high 32 points on 13-20 shooting for Charlotte.
The Hornets dropped to 3-6 on the season while the Knicks moved to 5-4 which pushes them over .500 for the first time. After losing their first two home games to Boston and then Cleveland the Knicks have now won their last three at home. The Knicks will now play five games on the road before their next game at the Garden the day after Thanksgiving when they host Washington in one of the league’s inaugural In-Season Tournament games which is played over the first month and a half of the season. They currently are 0-1 in such games.
The New York Knicks followed up the win by losing for the second time Monday night to the Boston Celtics 114-98. The Knicks had no answer for Celtics Jayson Tatum who finished his night with 35 points, 17 coming in the 4th quarter. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 26 points.
