The Boston Celtics dropped their second game at home in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals to begin their best-of-seven game series against the New York Knicks and now are in a 0-2 hole. For the second straight game to open the series, the Celtics blew a 20-point second-half lead. “We’ve gotten off to great starts, we guarded, we played physical with energy today,” Celtics All-Star Guard Jaylen Brown said after the loss. Brown also called the Celtics two straight second half collapses unacceptable. “To start the fourth quarter, I thought we got like four or five great looks in a row that didn’t go in, and maybe that affected us, but what’s done is done. Now we got an opportunity to see what we are made of and come out and try and make something happen in Game 3.”
In Game One the Celtics missed 45 of 60 three-point shots, and in Game Two they missed 30 of 40 three-point attempts. Both nights the Celtics shot exactly 25% from the field. Brown finished Game Two with 20 points, and the Celtics other All-Star forward Jason Tatum finished with just 13 points on 5-19 shooting. Former Knick Kristaps Porzingis is a key player for the Celtics and he has spent the first two games trying to play through an illness. After exiting the game before the second half in Game One he did not start Game Two, came in off the bench, and eventually had to leave the game again and did not return. He scored eight points in 13:53 minutes of action. Game Three is Saturday afternoon, 3:30 at Madison Square Garden.
