A seemingly harmless game, common among families, took a tragic turn when a 27-year-old mother in St. Joseph County, Indiana, allegedly drove off with her children clinging to her car. Jasmine White, the mother, was known to play a game with her children where she would race them to her car, lock the doors, and pretend to drive away, leaving them behind. However, on August 29, the game escalated into a terrifying ordeal.
Witnesses reported seeing White’s 8-year-old and 6-year-old daughters running alongside her Chevy Equinox as she drove down the street. The younger daughter told investigators that White was driving faster than usual, reaching speeds of approximately 15-20 miles per hour. As the car rolled, the 8-year-old held onto the door handle, desperately trying to keep up. Unfortunately, the vehicle’s increasing speed caused the girl to lose her grip, leading to a horrifying accident.
The young girl was struck by the car and dragged along the ground, suffering severe injuries including skull and orbital fractures, multiple abrasions, and a facial laceration that exposed her skull. She also lost five teeth. White has been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury and neglect of a dependent by placing them in a dangerous situation.
