Gray Paces The Aces In Game 1

Four Las Vegas’ starters scored 19+ points, with Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young leading the contest with 26 points apiece, and the Las Vegas Aces overcame a 3-point halftime deficit to outpace the New York Liberty 99-82 in game one of the 2023 WNBA Finals in Sin City last Sunday.
The first 20 minutes consisted of a back-and-forth affair, with each team maintaining no lead greater than 6 points, and the Liberty holding onto a three-point advantage at intermission. In the second half, the Aces’ offense scored 53 points while holding New York’s explosive backcourt to just 33 points. The Aces’ finished the contest with a 54.7% FG and going 9-22 from behind the arch, while New York shot a 46.4% FG and 31% from three-point range.
Chelsea Gray and A’Ja Wilson scored 19 and 20 points for Las Vegas, respectively. Regular season MVP, Brenna Stewart, led the Liberty with 21 points, in defeat while no other Liberty player scored more than 16 points. New York, playing in its first Finals since 2002 and seeking its first ever championship, attempts to even the series in game 2 in Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 11.
