Evan Fournier scored 30 points, going 6 for 8 from long distance, RJ Barrett added 25, and Julius Randle chipped in 21 for the Knicks, but it wasn’t enough as the Charlotte Hornets broke New York’s 4 game winning streak last night at Madsion Square Garden in the 125-114 loss.
The loss puts the Knicks on the verge of being eliminated from the postseason. It dropped their record to 34-43 leaving them 5 1/2 games behind the Atlanta for the 10 and final spot in the play-in playoff game. Two more losses and their season is over.
The Hornets were led by Miles Bridges who finished with 31 points, 14 coming in the fourth quarter. Bridges had help from LaMelo Ball who added 20 points and 15 rebounds.
The boos rained down on the team as the Knicks big man (Randall) continues to deal with an MSG crowd that is not happy with his performances. This from the home team crowd who constantly rained chants of MVP for most of last year. What a difference a year makes.
Said second year head coach of the team making the playoffs, “You’re not eliminated until you’re eliminated, he said.”
Randall, very sullen and wearing an open red open shirt and gold chain said, “it’s not true,” when he was asked if he asked for a trade. “If it ain’t come from me, it ain’t true.”
What is true is that the New York Knicks, who were the talk of the NBA league last year, making the playoffs, will need a miracle to get to the playoffs again. Only they believe it could happen.
