Miami, Fla. This Monday, the New York Yankees open the 2021 season when they host the Toronto Blue Jays. The team with the most World Series trophies (27) has not won a World Series since 2009. They have made the playoffs 5 times in the last 6 years but could never get to represent their league in the World Series. 2015 they lost the Wild Card game to the Houston Astros. 2017 Houston took them out again in the ALCS. 2018 the Boston Red Sox won 3-1 in the ALDS winning the last 2 games at Yankee Stadium. Houston would be a thorn in their side again taking out the Bombers 4-3 in 2019. Last year in the Covid19 shortened season, Tampa eliminated them in the ALDS 3-2. So, when manager Aaron Boone comes north, the expectations for the team as always will be to not only get to the big stage but to win the whole thing. The New York Beacon features one player who will have a big impact on the team’s success. Prior to last year, Aroldis Chapman averaged 27 saves, struck out 269 and had an ERA of 2.54. Yes, he has given up home runs in the postseason sending the team home. New York would not have gotten to the playoffs without him. Below is his bio-file.
