Former defender and current social justice activist Colin Kaepernick partnered with Jahm Najafi to form the company Mission Advancement Corp, which focuses on ESG for the consumer sector.
The company has filed with the SEC to raise $250 million in an initial public offering.
They are looking for a business that reflects:
– Consumers are investing in brands that reflect their social values and recognize that purchasing decisions can act as instruments of change.
– Companies are becoming more mission-oriented and seeking to align themselves with culturally relevant social causes.
– Brands are evolving towards media platforms, allowing cultural influencers and authentic celebrities to generate awareness, marketing exposure, and value.
Board members include Ava DuVernay, Birchbox founder Katia Beauchamp, former director of marketing for Beats by Dre Omar Johnson, head of the global brand and consumer marketing at Google Attica Jacques, and Brian Lee, co-founder of The Honest Co. with Jessica Alba and ShoeDazzle with Kim Kardashian.
