Barack and Michelle Obama have purchased a property at the prestigious Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts earlier this week, according to the Vineyard Gazette.

The former First Family purchased a 6,892-square-foot home situated on 29.3 secluded acres for a total of $11.75 million. The couple consistently visited Martha’s Vineyard during the eight years they were stationed in the White House.

“I’m sure the full-time residents have their own opinions, but they’ve been summering on the island for so long now, they are part of the community,” Noelle C. Bonham, a serial Martha’s Vineyard vacationer, said to The Root. “They stay up island, so you see them when they come in town and while they can still cause a stir, I mean we love them, so we take it in stride.”

While the Martha’s Vineyard veteran predicted there may be some concern from residents about the increased bustle their famed new neighbors could bring, she pointed out that other changes should be higher on their priority list of worries.
