When the New York Football Giants traveled to face the Washington Fooball team at Fed Ex Field last Thursday night, they were riding a 4 game winning streak against the team with the new name. Quarteback Daniel Jones guided the team to those wins throwing 5 touchdown passes when they last met. Unfortunately, that winning streak came to an end as they fell to Washington 30-29 in a game they should have won.
Jones did his part completing 22 off 32 passes for 248 yards and 1 touchdown. He also ran for 95 yards. In the end however, Washington field goal kicker Dustin Hopkins was given a second chance after missing a 48 yard attempt as defesive tackle Dexter Lawrence was flagged for going of sides. Hopkins next attempt from 43 yards sailed inside the right goal post for the victory. Said head coach Joe Judge, “we are not going to put this loss on any one player or situation.”
With 6:26 left in the fourth quarter, Big Blue had a chance to extend the lead (23-20) but Jones overthrew a wide open Darius Slayton who got behind the Washington secondary. It led to a Grahman Gano field goal. Wide reciecer Kenny Golladay was seen on the sideline screaming at Jones. Said Judge of the confrontation, “I’ve already spoken to all parties involved about all that stuff you guys (reporters) are referencing. “You guys asked me the other night about Kenny, there was no argument on the sideline. There was no him versus Daniel or anything of that nature. This is a guy that in the heat of the moment, you speak very passionately. You kind of speak with some emotion. I speak with emotion on the sideline. There was no blowup or anything that has to be made of it. I understand sometimes the perceptions will be what they are, but like I said the other day, there’s no issue there.”
The New York Giants come home Sunday to host the Atlanta Falcons Sunday who were torched by Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. Brady threw 5 touchdowns. “I’ve seen it go one of two ways: We can either fix it now and not do like we’ve done in the past and wait until half the season and try to turn it on,” wide reciever Sterling Shepard said. “We have to fix it right now. This loss doesn’t define our season.
