The Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti recently announced that a street will be named after Barack Obama. “Obama Boulevard” went into effect on Tuesday, Garcetti announced on Twitter, saying, “We’re thrilled that Angelenos and visitors will forever be reminded of the legacy of President Barack Obama when traveling across LA.

The city council decided to rename Rodeo Road after a proposal was approved in 2017. Garcetti also added in his tweet, “It’s official: Our City Council has voted to rename Rodeo Road to ‘Obama Boulevard’!” California also recently renamed a section of the 134 Freeway after Obama, calling it the President Barack H. Obama Highway.

The council’s decision was announced on the 55th anniverisary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
