In Iowa, civil rights organizations are appealing to the legislature and Gov. Kim Reynolds to finally ban racial profiling. The movements picked up momentum after two young black men filed a lawsuit against the Des Moines police for a traffic stop based on racial profiling.

The NAACP says at least 30 states have laws that prohibit racial profiling, but Iowa is not one of them. The ACLU plans to work with the group to push a bill that would prohibit this behavior, it was introduced this year in the Iowa Senate. They have asked Kim Reynolds to help by creating a racial profile study committee, which Reynolds says is under consideration.
